Peak Coal as Early as 2025

CleanTechnica -- The European Commission’s Institute for Energy in 2000 estimated global supplies of coal to last 277 years. In 2007, that number was lowered to 155 years.

This forecast may sound like plenty of time to adjust to meeting our energy needs in from other sources, but how accurate are these numbers really? The National Academy of Sciences Report on Coal, from June 2007 isn’t very encouraging....While oil lurks below the surface and can be hard to detect, coal fields can be identified by outcrops. This means that the locations of coal reserves are known and new coal discoveries are unlikely.

You guys are right and I'll admit it, I scanned over this thing too quick and jumped the gun - thought it was a duplicate topic - opened my mouth and inserted my foot.

Excuse me, being in a rush, I was stupid in the 1st degree.

Haste makes waste.

"Jeff, I was wondering why you duplicated your rant on peak oil and posted it in a topic dealing with the subject of peak coal. "

Also, I wonder if he has any grandchildren he cares about, eats shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico, believes that new crude oil is being made someplace, and thinks that cheap gas is a God-given right to all Americans.

Jeff, I was wondering why you duplicated your rant on peak oil and posted it in a topic dealing with the subject of peak coal. The part of your rant on "what's under the vast oceans" gave me a laugh; as if you were suggesting we should try to find and mine coal under the seabed!

Are you aware of the half dozen or so very detailed studies released over the last year addressing the world supply shortfall in conventional crude projected to hit in around 2012?

BTW, this is from the OP article [that you most likely didn't even bother to read, being in rant-posting mode]:

New Coal Discoveries Unlikely
While oil lurks below the surface and can be hard to detect, coal fields can be identified by outcrops. This means that the locations of coal reserves are known and new coal discoveries are unlikely.

The sooner we develop alternatives and stop using oil and coal, the better!

Okay, another story & proof that you can't fix stupid!

How anyone could be so bold and have the audacity to believe they know what's underneath the Earth along with the vast oceans, is beyond logic and common sense. You cannot see what is invisible to your eyes! Your tools and reasoning are grossly insufficient and are an embarrassment to the human intellect.

"Peak oil" is one of the biggest lines of BS ever told - designed by the greedy who are solely after profits and are still laughing about it right now. Those who actually believe this crap have me stunned with incalculable amazement.

As centuries into the future pass, historians will look back to this date and compare us to having a caveman's mentality.

Think!

We have to use the coal more efficiently so the supply last longer.
